Then Yelisa moved closer to him, frowned, and said, “What’s the reason for that laugh of yours?”
Boka Jinshan put on a serious face and replied, “My daughter, know that nothing caused me to laugh except seeing how you young ones want to handle matters meant for adults. In my opinion, you should hand over the Scroll of Tsatsuba to me and leave everything in my hands. I will immediately send for the Rod of Muftahul Zarbil to be brought to me within a few days. Right before your eyes, I will open that book and read it together with you.”
When Boka Jinshan reached this point in his speech, Yelisa burst into laughter and said, “Oh father, I know you gave birth to me, but you must know you can’t outsmart me anymore. I’ve become more enlightened than you think. All we want from you now is to tell us the rules we must follow when we enter the Kalkim Forest to retrieve the Sword of Maridi Magulus. Once you give us that, you’ve fulfilled your part; leave the rest of the hardship to us.”
When Boka Jinshan heard this, he fell silent and thought to himself, “Truly it would be shameful for me to take the Scroll of Tsatsuba from these children, especially since I don’t know how they got it. And if I do, it might lessen the respect my daughter has for me.”
“Very well, I agree to tell you the rules to follow when you enter the Kalkim Forest, but on one condition. The condition is that I will assign one of my servants to accompany you. That servant is none other than the jinn Nargaz. Know that Nargaz is a mighty warrior jinn; he will protect you from evil spirits and is faster than your jinn, Gulzum. Also, if Gulzum gets tired during the journey, Nargaz can carry all three of you and continue the trip.”
After Yelisa and Jafar heard this, they looked at each other and remained silent. Then Jafar looked at Boka Jinshan respectfully and said, “Our leader, we’ve heard your condition, and we agree. But we ask that you excuse us until tomorrow so we can consult among ourselves.”
Boka Jinshan laughed and said, “Very well, I agree. Go and return to me tomorrow with your final decision.”
Immediately, Yelisa and Jafar stood up and left the palace, carrying the Scroll of Tsatsuba. As soon as they left, Boka Jinshan called the name Nargaz three times. Instantly, the jinn appeared before him, bowed respectfully, and said, “Here I am, my master. What do you require of me?”
Jinn Nargaz was truly a giant—he was ten times larger than Gulzum. He was incredibly strong and in the prime of his youth. He didn’t know fear at all.
Boka Jinshan looked at Nargaz calmly and said, “I didn’t summon you for nothing. I want to assign you to accompany my daughter and Jafar son of Ruziyal on a journey to the Kalkim Forest to retrieve the Sword of Maridi Magulus. Know that you’ll be traveling with Gulzum. I instruct you to assist them whenever the need arises. After you’ve successfully retrieved the sword, proceed to the city of Teheren and enter the underground prison of King Lu’umanu. There, break the seal of the container which holds the jinn Markahul Sabus using this very sword, Sarjis. Once you open the box, you will find a metal vessel inside. Do not, under any circumstance, attempt to open it. You must bring it to me sealed. If you foolishly open the vessel, the jinn Markahul Sabus will be released and destroy all of you.”
When the jinn Nargaz heard this instruction from his master, he took a deep breath and said, “My master, you must know that I don’t know the rules to follow in the Kalkim Forest. Also, entering the city of Teheren is not a simple matter—let alone accessing the underground prison of King Lu’umanu.”
Upon hearing this, Boka Jinshan burst into laughter and said, “Do not worry. I will explain everything to you tomorrow. For now, you’re dismissed. Return at this exact time tomorrow.”
Jinn Nargaz bowed and said, “Understood, my master.”
