DSS and Soldiers Eliminate Armed Bandit Leader Dogo Gide in Niger State

In a surprise operation, special units of the Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with Nigerian Army troops, eliminated at least 45 armed bandits in the Kuchi area of Munya Local Government Area, Niger State.

The operation was carried out covertly and marked a major success in the ongoing campaign against banditry in Niger State, particularly targeting followers of the notorious bandit leader, Dogo Gide.

According to Vanguard, security sources revealed that the DSS had tracked the bandits, preventing them from launching an attack on villages targeted by Dogo Gide and his loyalists.

Based on classified intelligence obtained from recent undercover investigations, it was discovered that the terrorists, who came from the Bilbis forest in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and parts of Kaduna State, had been invited by Dogo Gide to launch an assault on the Kuchi area.

A security source stated:
"On the morning of Monday, June 2, 2025, nearly 100 armed bandits from Kaduna and Zamfara States, carrying sophisticated weapons, were heading towards Kuchi town with the intention of attacking the local population.

"But security forces launched a surprise attack on the bandits outside Kuchi town before they could carry out their planned assault.

"There was an exchange of gunfire, and as the bandits began to flee, many of them were killed, while several others sustained serious injuries. Many motorcycles and rounds of ammunition were also recovered.

"However, five DSS operatives sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, according to the source."
