Kwankwaso thanks Governor Abba for rejecting those urging him to sever ties - Kwankwaso

The former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed his gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the state for rejecting calls from those urging him to sever ties with him.

Kwankwaso made this statement during an interview with BBC Hausa, which was broadcast today, Monday.

The former governor of Kano also expressed dissatisfaction with how some people are trying to cause a rift between him and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, following the release of a statement titled "Abba, Stand Your Ground," which called for the governor to break away from Kwankwaso and distance himself from him due to allegations that he was interfering in government affairs and hindering progress.

"What people don’t understand is that we, the Kwankwasiyya movement, are not a political party but a group of people who have come together. So, if a governor or any lawmaker we appointed does something that’s not liked, it’s not just about their name being mentioned, but about how it reflects on the Kwankwasiyya movement," Kwankwaso said.

He further denied allegations that he was meddling in government affairs, stating that he had always said he would only offer advice when requested, and that’s exactly what he’s doing now.

According to Kwankwaso, those urging Abba to break away from him have political motives. They believe that by causing a division between them, they will find a way to achieve their own objectives.

"Some people imagine that if he distances himself from Kwankwasiyya, there are those among them who want to become governor. They hope that if he makes a mistake, they can unite with him to achieve their goal. So, I want to thank the governor for making it clear that he will not be swayed by them," Kwankwaso concluded.
